GIVING BACK

This life is a shared experience, as are the personal and global environmental issue we are faced with today. Giving back is an integral part of our philosophy.  Our vision is to support transparent organisations that have proven to have the most positive, sincere and effective outcomes.

It’s our baseline pledge to contribute 5% of Sales to the positive change in the social and environmental landscapes.

We currently stand together with the following organisations.

THE HEALING FOUNDATION

The Healing Foundation is a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions like the forced removal of children from their families. Our work helps people create a different future.

We work with communities to create a place of safety, providing an environment for Stolen Generations members and their families to speak for themselves, tell their own stories and be in charge of their own healing.

The Healing Foundation is also leading the way in research into Indigenous healing. Our studies are unique, valuable and highly regarded both locally and internationally.

We support locally-run projects, training and education, research and commemorations.

Since 2010, The Healing Foundation have:

  • funded more than 175 community organisations to lead and develop healing projects
  • established an impressive body of evidence and
  • assisted more than 45,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members in their healing journeys
  • provided grants for local commemorative events.

The Healing Foundation are governed by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander board, with strong connections to the community and a dynamic mix of experience.

RAIN FOREST RESCUE

Rainforest Rescue has been protecting and restoring rainforests in Australia and internationally since 1998. This is achieved by the purchasing properties of high conservation value rainforest and the protection of their biodiversity. We also restore rainforest through planting, maintenance and weed removal.

Rainforest Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation that has been protecting and restoring rainforests in Australia and internationally since 1998 by providing opportunities for individuals and businesses to Protect Rainforests Forever.

Our projects re-establish rainforests through planting, maintenance and restoration programs, as well as purchasing and protecting high conservation value rainforest and preserving its biodiversity.

Rainforest Rescue was established from a community wish to protect rainforest forever. We are committed to building relationships with individuals, philanthropists, businesses and grant-making organisations through which the majority of our funding is sourced.

Conservation strategy

We protect rainforests forever by the following:

Rescue: Rainforest Rescue’s cornerstone activity (and ‘point of difference’ from many environmental organisations) is its ‘buy back’ program, through which 135 Hectares of Australian rainforest –mostly zoned for development – have been purchased for preservation.

Restore: Rainforest Rescue works with and through organisations in Queensland, New South Wales, North Sumatra and Ecuador. It has its own community nursery in Far North Queensland where it propagates around 180 species of rainforest plants from collected seeds. These are planted to restore degraded rainforest land to high levels of bio-diversity. Camera traps in Sumatra and the Daintree prove that when rainforest flora is restored, fauna returns.

Conserve Efforts to conserve threatened and endangered plant and animal species is integral to Rainforest Rescue’s work. ‘Keystone’ species such as the Southern Cassowary and Sumatran Orangutan are vital to rainforest eco-systems and protecting them is important if rainforests are to survive.

Learn: Rainforest Rescue works with academics, universities and other research institutions on scientific research and evaluation projects that help us to better understand the ecology and functions of the rainforest and the biodiversity within them. Campaigns such as Save the Cassowary and regular newsletters, volunteer events and media updates continue to spread the message that rainforests and the biodiversity within them are critical to human life and urgently need our attention and protection.
